Discussion:
Limitations of VDSL

This follows from my earlier thread about VDSL unreliability.

Zen tell me that they have no mechanism to force a higher SNR margin on
VDSL circuits. This was possible with ADSL, and meant they could
improve connection reliability albeit at the expense of speed.
Evidently this is controlled by the Openreach Dynamic Line Management
and ISPs have no control over it.

I think my connection suffers from impulse interference, and my
understanding is that setting a large interleave value would improve the
connection reliability. But again, Zen tell me that they can't control
this for VDSL although it was possible for ADSL.

Can anybody provide independent confirmation of this, please?

You need to find the source of that.
Maybe ask some ham radio operators, they maybe have equipment to track
down the origin.

Or invest in a spectrum analyser. There’s some very cheap ones on eBay
these days. Probably adequate for searching out a source of interference.

Start with an AM radio tuned to "white space" between stations, follow
your nose from there ...
