I have recently been having problems receiving with gmail so I changed
my password. Now I can get at my mails using webmail but the blinking
thing insists on going through a full 2FA process every time I want to
log on. Anyone know why and how do I get over it?

Whilst I'm on can anyone recommend a free Windows (10Pro) mail client
that will work properly with a gmail address? As above specifically one
that I can use just like any other client - I have tried Thunderbird
that I use for my other email addresses but it wouldn't work with that
either! A mate has suggested Google Workspace but I'm not sure if that
will handle mail correctly or not.

TIA.

eMClient works well with Gmail, free for two accounts but costs if you
want more.

Did you know on the Canary Islands there is not one canary?
And on the Virgin Islands same thing, not one canary.

TB does work with gmail, but gmail itself isn't "just like any other"
email server, it uses tags to fake folders, which has a few side-effects.

Thanks for that. I have installed it almost successfully. Setting it up
manually for POP3 operation it rejects my SMTP credentials, and the POP3
just keeps testing. Any ideas?

Have you enabled "less secure apps" in google? (they may not allow that
any longer)

have you tried enabling "app specific password" in google? that might
require you give them a working phone number

does emClient support oAuth2?

plenty of hoops with google, and they move all the time.

I use it with IMAP for most things and Exchange for MSFT accounts. It does
have the latest GMAIL security, whatever that's called nowadays.

Dump gmail, try GMX.

You need to allow cookies for google? Once set it'll go back its normal MFA
challenges. If you ever clear your cookies it'll restart the constant
requests.

Now <that> is useful. Why don't they make it clear?

Because it's not in their interest.

Now <that> is useful. Why don't they make it clear?
Because the default behaviour sites want to encourage is "accept all
cookies".
