Decluttering

It felt strangely good gathering up all the DECT phone handsets and bases
and generally clearing away all the old land line stuff now that we’ve gone
full fibre and have decided to just use our mobiles.

When I get around to linking our home battery and inverter’s emergency
power supply to the router I might think about VOIP and keeping one phone
for that but for the meantime, it just feels good to declutter.

Remember that if you want to keep your old landline number you need to
find a Voip service provider (VSP) and tell them you want to keep the
old number WITHIN 4 WEEKS. IIRC you give the line number to the VSP and
they will request it from BT.

The number that’s only used by scammers? Nah, happy to lose it. ;-)

If you can get them working without a connection to a line then they can
make good toys for kids to be able to call each other. With no danger
of connecting to the outside world.

I presume that’s dependant on them having an intercom feature? Not sure
ours had that. Nice idea though.

Hmm. Old-style handsets could be made to work with an external battery,
but I don't know about DECT systems. Interesting thought.
