The connection between the Linksys and the modem is apparently Ethernet.
Does this carry PPPoE? If so, does Gigaclear provide their customer
with a username and password? Or is authentication implemented some
other way?
You've read this ?

The Genexis router they use (or used to use) is interesting. They link to the
manual:

It seems like it comes in two parts a bit like the BT NTE, but active. The
back part does the optical stuff and also has a CATV output (for those on
optical DOCSIS maybe?). Then the front plate does ethernet, phone, wifi.
There's an internal header that connects the front to the back plate.
Suppose in theory that means the ISP can upgrade the front bit without
having to disturb the optical side, although that would lock in the ISP to
using that hardware.
Some notes on a Gigaclear install here:

Seems like in 2016 customers could do their own dig and fibre install, which
is unusual. Also that uses an older Genexis box.
It seems that the Linksys routers they offer are just versions of their
Velop mesh nodes with no optical interface, so presumably they are still
installing Genexis boxes as modems?
Oh, apparently they aren't installing Genexis any more, just ONTs which use
regular DHCP, no PPP:

Sounds like there's no authentication because that's done by the ONT.
